We spoke with Eric Dodds, Senior Director of Product Strategy and Operations at RudderStack, about how his team utilizes Arcade for product launches, sales training demos, and high-level feature walkthroughs.
Industry: Software development
Using Arcade since: 2023
Types of use:
- Built demos for product launches and incorporated into all launch communications
- Created demos to certify SDRs on key features for consistent, engaging intro calls
- Conducted training sessions for the sales engineering team
- Launched high-level product demo series
- Improved documentation for customer education
Results:
- Generated 2x more pipeline and achieved 3x faster adoption compared to previous product launches
- Reduced sales training time by 83% (from 12 to 2 weeks).
The Problem
RudderStack is a Warehouse Native Customer Data Platform (CDP) that enables data teams to collect, unify, and activate customer data. When they recognized the need for an effective way to engage prospects and validate their ideal customer profile, they turned to Arcade.
They had been using a mix of tools but were looking for a better way to:
- Empower their teams to create product-focused content flexibly
- Enhance customer engagement during product launches
- Validate use cases and solutions through interactive demos
- Track engagement on demos that explain features
Why Arcade?
The RudderStack team chose Arcade because it was a self-service platform that was easy to get started with and didn’t require long-term contracts. Ease of use and simplicity were key considerations, as they wanted various team members to create interactive Arcades for internal and external use cases.
Arcade stood out because it allowed us to train our team and showcase our product in a way that was both engaging and intuitive."
How RudderStack Uses Arcade
#1 Product Launches
The RudderStack team incorporated Arcades for product launches–such as the data quality launch–driving high-intent leads and a pipeline for the sales team.
“Our data quality launch drove more rapid adoption across our customer base than any prior launch. It was immediately adopted into our product demo, using some of the exact flows we built in Arcade.”
RudderStack added call-to-action buttons and watermarks to 'Get a demo' across all launch Arcades to drive action. Including CTAs throughout the demo gave the viewer multiple moments to click and book a meeting.
#2 Sales Training and Certification
Arcade was used to create demos for certifying sales development representatives (SDRs) on specific features, enabling them to deliver compelling introductory calls. It also supported sales engineering and business development training, making complex product functionalities easier to grasp.
In the below Arcade, they included synthetic voiceover so that reps could hear a crisp, timed delivery of the pitch, but at their own pace (by clicking through) so they could nail each section.
"Our top-rated SDR is now an AE and is on track to be one of our top-performing AEs for the year. The demo was a huge part of his product talk track and education."
#3 Customer Education
They also refined their approach to documentation, turning static pages into interactive, educational content. In doing this, they made complex features more digestible and engaging, which fostered deeper product adoption.
For more complex workflows, they developed a series called 'QuickStart Guide.' The concept was to provide an Arcade in addition to knowledge docs because an Arcade can provide more context––visually and through the voiceover feature.
They also considered the top-visited doc pages—including their 'Product Overview' and 'Transformations' pages—as places to add Arcades. These demos were designed to help users get a tactical, clear overview of what's possible.
Through Arcade’s Insights, the team observed how customers actively engaged with the created content. This proved to be a game-changer by offering clear visibility into customer engagement and validating the target audience.
