How to Create a Private Teamspace in Notion

Learn how to create a private teamspace in Notion to securely collaborate on sensitive projects, HR docs, or executive plans with limited access.

1. Open the Teamspaces menu
Click Teamspaces in the left-hand sidebar of your Notion workspace to view existing spaces and create a new one.

2. Click the + New Teamspace button
At the bottom of the Teamspaces list, click + New Teamspace to start setting up your new private workspace.

3. Name your teamspace and add a description
Enter a clear name and purpose, such as Founders Room or Hiring Committee. Use the description to explain what the space will be used for.

4. Set visibility to Private
Under the Visibility section, choose Private so only invited members will have access to the teamspace and its pages.

5. Invite specific members
Use the Add members field to invite only the individuals who should have access. You can set their permissions individually as Viewer, Commenter, or Editor.

6. Click Create to finalize
Once everything looks good, click Create to launch your new private teamspace. Only invited members will be able to find and access it.
