How to Freeze a Row in Excel

Learn how to freeze the top row or multiple rows in Excel so headers stay visible while scrolling. Perfect for long spreadsheets and clean data navigation.

1. Go to the View tab
From the Excel Home tab, navigate to the View tab in the ribbon menu.

2. Freeze the top row
If you only need to freeze the first row, click Freeze Top Row.

3. Select a specific row to freeze
To freeze multiple rows, click to highlight the row below the last one you want to freeze.

4. Use Freeze Panes
With your row selected and still in the View tab, click Freeze Panes to freeze the rows above.
