1. Understand LinkedIn’s default URL format
LinkedIn generates profile URLs by appending your name with a unique alphanumeric string, but it's clunky and unmemorable, e.g. "john-smith-a1b2c34".
2. Click the Me icon
In the top-right corner of your LinkedIn navigation bar, click the Me
icon.
3. Select View Profile
Choose View Profile
from the dropdown to open your LinkedIn profile page.
4. Click the Pencil icon next to Public profile & URL
In the right-hand panel, click the pencil icon where it says Public profile & URL
.
5. Edit your profile URL
Click inside the text field containing your profile URL to customize it.
6. Return to the homepage
When finished customizing, click the Home
icon to return to your LinkedIn homepage.
7. View your profile again
Click your Me
icon once more, then select View Profile
from the dropdown.
8. Confirm your new custom URL
Your new custom LinkedIn profile URL will now display in the browser’s address bar, ready to be shared in resumes, emails, or elsewhere.
