How to Remove Duplicates in Excel

Need to find and get rid of duplicate values in Excel? Just follow these step-by-step instructions to delete duplicate rows or values.

1. Select the data range
Highlight the rows and columns in your Excel file where you want to check for and remove duplicate values.

2. Open the Data tab
Click the Data tab in the Excel toolbar to access data management tools.

3. Click Remove Duplicates
In the Data tab, click the Remove Duplicates button to open the duplicate removal options.

4. Confirm column headers
If your selection includes headers, check the box labeled My data has headers. Then click OK.

5. Review the results
A confirmation pop-up will display how many duplicate values were found and removed, along with how many unique values remain.
